Exchange 2010 and OCS R2 - OWA chat failure

I wanted to post on an issue you may come across when deploying Exchange Server 2010 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 platform integrated to OCS R2.
Exchange Server 2010 is fully supported for deployment on Windows Server 2008 R2; however when deploying the Web Service Provider to enable integration between OWA and OCS, you will find that not everythig is quite as simple as that.
Presence updates work perfectly fine as does the the buddy list within Outlook Web App; however when attmepting to use the chat feature, the IM's fail with the error; 'The message couldn't be delivered to all recipients beasue some recipients are offline or don't want to be disturbed.'

This error is a bit misleading and is actually due to an issue with the way in which Windows Server 2008 R2 handles the certificate negotiation when communicating using the OCS API.

To resolve this error, Microsoft have released an update to the Redistributable Components for Unified Communications Managed API, (or UcmaRedist). download the latest UcmaRedist patch availble here; http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b3b02475-150c-41fa-844a-c10a517040f4&displaylang=en and install it on the Exchange Server 2010 CAS role that is configured to integrate with OCS.

Once this is installed restart IIS and job done and the chat feature will work as expected.
